El Ballo de la Theriaca
Palazzo Albrizzi bring us back to the frivolous and gay atmosphere of Venice in the 18th century, where also the production of the Theriaca was a public show, played by licentious and cheerful boys. All lined up in front of the apothecaries, they pounded the medicament ingredients in bronze mortars singing:
”Per veleni, per flati ed altri mali/
La Theriaca gh’à el primo in sti canali”
(For poisons, flatus and other evils, the Theriaca
has the first in these canals) while alternating
strophes and hits of pestles.
A historical curiosity: the Authors assigned to the medicine the virtue of reinvigorating men (”far rinvigorire l’huomo”) among its therapeutic talents. Viagra is a recent discovery!
At Palazzo Albrizzi, the guests will enliven the party with historical dances introduced by the Maître de Danse Clara Santoni. During the candlelight dinner with opulent laid tables, a variety of shows will alternate.
The Baroque Quartette, inserted in the precious and sumptuous saloons decorated with scenes in stuccos and frescoes of the Tiepolo School, will donate a refined touch to the gala, offering music composed by Mozart, Vivaldi and Galuppi.
